Humanitarian Actions

CS-R Committee 2010

For 2011, the CEMS Club Copenhagen CS-R Committee has a vision to further incorporate humanitarian actions into the overall CEMS experience. To achieve this we will have greater focus on increasing corporation between committees and creating local partnerships to drive student participation through Copenhagen based volunteer activities.

Upcoming CS-R Projects

More info coming soon!

Past Projects:

Care Denmark

In 2011, the CEMS Club Copenhagen worked together with the new "social partner" CARE, and in particular CARE Denmark. From April 12th to 15th, CEMS Club Copenhagen held its annual Humanitarian Week on the CBS campus. In collaboration with CARE Denmark, funds and awareness were raised for the SLOGINProject in Uganda and a Skill Seminar was run. The result of one week intensive waffle-baking-information-stand is 5.285 DKK raised to help strenghthening Uganda's civil society!

Thank you everyone for your involvement!

Schools for Africa

In 2008, 2009 and 2010 the CEMS CS-R Committees have been dedicated to raising funds for the Schools for Africa project in coordination with the UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Hamburg Society for the Promotion of Democracy and International Law. The aim of the project is to increase the access to and quality of education for children in six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe). The need for such an initiative is clear: in Sub-Saharan Africa alone 45 million children to receive basic education. That is half of Africa's future trapped behind an insurmountable wall of ignorance, poverty and discrimination. The Schools for Africa project aims to create conditions that foster a learning environment for the children and give them the ability to learn, play and take control of their future. We are very enthusiastic and happy to report that we have surpassed our goal of raising a minimum of €5000 by the end of 2010 - However we do not want to stop there! For the last part of this semester we will continue with our dedication to this project and work to increase our total donation!

Philosophy

Although raising funds for Schools for Africa is an important role CEMS CS-R plays, we feel that to ensure future development of the CEMS Club Copenhagen, we need to increase our local community impact. As a result, we find that through a combination for fund raising events and first-hand participation, participating students will not only help those in Africa, yet also those living in their hosting school’s community.
