In March 2011, the CEMS community at Copenhagen Business School was the host school of the annual Nordic Forum. Fully booked out, the event was a great success both for the students and the companies involved! Find out more about what happened at the Nordic Forum below.

 

What is the Nordic Forum?

The Nordic Forum is one of the largest annual CEMS events organized by a CEMS Club for both students and companies. It encompasses 3 days of interactive skill seminars and social events with corporate partners and fellow students. The topic of the 2011 Nordic Forum was Management Challenges of the 21st Century.

Astra Zeneca 'Breakthrough Zone' seminar

AstraZeneca is a global, innovation-driven, biopharmaceutical company employing over 62 000 people worldwide. The company’s main focus is to discover, develop and manufacture medicines against the most severe diseases of the contemporary world. AstraZeneca is one of the most innovative biopharmaceutical companies in the world, investing over $4 billion in R&D each year and having over 11 000 employees in the R&D organization.

A “Breakthrough Zone” is a tool that has been promoted and utilized at AstraZeneca to unleash creativity and generate innovative ideas in a group setting. The students will find it a successful method in which to discuss problems, share fresh ideas, and develop unique solutions to the problems presented.
By using this technique Astra Zeneca wants to inspire and involve CEMS students in thinking outside the box, solving challenges in an intensive, fun, and collaborative way. The approach is designed to be simple, energising and fun, and we hope will provide you with a unique and memorable experience.

 

Vestas 'Change Management and the Leadership Role'

Vestas is one of the world’s largest suppliers of modern energy solutions, operating in wind power industry. The company employs more than 23,000 people globally and it has installed more than 35,000 wind turbines in 63 countries on five continents. Vestas’ main ambition is to make wind an energy source on a par with fossil fuels.

At CEMS Nordic Forum 2011 Vestas will provide participants with the opportunity of joining an exciting workshop focused on the topic of change management.
The initial part of the workshop will focus on elaborating on change management at Vestas, and provide practical examples of how we strive towards successful implementation of change through effective change processes and a strong focus on leadership.
The workshop will demonstrate change management from a Vestas viewpoint, and particularly focus on engaging participants in defining challenges related to leadership. The purpose of this workshop is to create a strong practical output that can allow participants to proactively seek towards developing skills and competencies that can prepare them for strong leadership capabilities during change processes.

 

Maersk 'Procurement in the 21st century'

A. P. Moller-Maersk (APMM) is an international company operating in the fields of shipping, energy, offshore, retail and industry. The company is present in some 130 countries and employs 115 000 people. APMM focuses on energy efficiency, which goes hand in hand with improved environmental performance.

As a conglomerate with wide-ranging business activities Maersk has an extensive experience in project management and operations effectiveness on a global scale. The seminar “Management challenges of the 21st century” is designed to familiarize students with the biggest challenges facing contemporary business and international management practices.

Students will work in groups on 3 different case studies: “Waste Heat Recovery”, “Trucking Sourcing” and “Risk Management”. Maersk will also present the company profile and potential career opportunities.

 

Shell 'Project Managament' seminar

Shell's mission is to meet the world’s growing energy needs in economically, environmentally and socially responsible ways. It won´t be easy but that has never stopped Shell before. The corporation has already achieved some of the industry´s most impressive feats by holding to the belief that for every problem, there is a solution.
To let the students experience some of the challenges Shell faces, an exiting programme has been put together.

Can the students apply a creative mind to some of the world’s biggest energy challenges? The students will be faced with the challenges of a project that requires them to balance economic, social and environmental considerations. Sustainable Development and teamwork are key elements of the workshop. The students will also learn more about our Energy Efficiency Solutions.

 

Marketwatch 'Negotiation Techniques' seminar

Professional negotiator, Chairman of the Centre for Negotiation at the Copenhagen Business School and CBS professor Keld Jensen will introduce students to the fine art of negotiation techniques. With more than 20 years of experience in the field and as a famous trainer for many Scandinavian corporations, the attending students will learn from an expert in the field of negotiations.
